Why do Republicans like to bash New York and California?

I am not sure how I should read your chart. But to answer your question about New York and California, the residents of both states are highly educated and the Republicans haven't got a ice cubes chance in hell to win any significant seats there. Even in Orange County California, formally a Republican stronghold, the percentage between Democrats and republicans is now only about 5%. z
