Is it ok to be in a band with a person that is 50 years old?

I am trying to start a country music band in Mississippi, and I put up ads in music stores, and a guy emailed me and said he was interested in starting with me. I am only 18 years old. He said he was 50 years old. would that be weird? I am looking for people my age but im just wondering about this before i say anything back.
